two words....the help!!!

have you been out to the theatre to see the help?

it was an  phenomenal movie! i highly recommend seeing it!

i went last night and the theatre was packed! i got there early b/c i wanted a good seat! so many people were walking out of the theatre with tears in their eyes! guess the ending was a real tear jerkier! i wouldn't know! i'll be honest with you i missed the last 15 mins. or so of the movie, thanks to my husband to who remains in the dog house! still pissed about leaving early, so actually i don't know how it ends!

i watched up to the part when abilieen and minny were at the grocery store and saw a woman reading the book! i so wanted to stay, but my husband was being such a nag b/c his movie got out before the help was over! guess i'll have to read the book or watch the movie again to find out how it ends!

all i can say is i am glad i didn't grow up in the south in the 60's! without opening a can of worms, i'll just say i am glad times have changed! way to go skeeter!!

as for some scenes in the movie i really wanted to get out my seat and punch someone! i think the cast was awesome! if only i got to see the end of the movie...lol!  that's okay, i'll be milking it all weekend! ha! ha! ha!

my favorite part of the movie was the scene with minny, hilly, hilly's mother and the chocolate pie! lol!!! karma is a bitch isn't it, lol!!!

i also loved the fact that hilly's mother bought minny's chocolate pie at the auction...lol! sissy spacek was one of my favorite characters, such a riot!  i'll admit i'll becareful the next time somone shows up at my door with a chocolate pie! ha! ha! ha!

oh well, have a fabulous weekend!

i want this, this and this...

i just got home from a fabulous evening that consisted of lobster and calamari for dinner, which was followed by a little shopping. actually more browsing than shopping, lol!

after dinner i headed over to crate & barrel and noticed these adorable plates! seriously, if i didn't have so many sets of plates i'd be so over these! so cute!!
after wondering around crate & barrel i headed over to the land of nod and came across the perfect  acrylic desk mat solution for my desk! super excited, i've been searching forever for a good solution! the acrylic desk mat was only $32.00! worth every cent in my book, lol!
i couldn't help but take a photo of this adorable frog! of course, the sponsor was gibson's!  love gibson's, if you are ever in chicago i highly recommend you check it out! gibson's also owns one of my favorite restaurants --- hugo's frog bar & fish house! YUM!!!

anyway, i love that the "waiter" looking frog is carrying a chocolate martini in one hand and a steak, potato and asparagus concoction in his other hand! too cute!

next stop nordstrom's for a black & white mocha! however, after leaving nordstrom i headed over to vera bradley. okay, i had no idea today is vera bradley's birthday! they had a purple beverage, cute pattern water bottles and cupcakes! i really didn't need the cupcake but i couldn't resist!
almost forgot, while wondering the mall in oak brook i came across a new store called hot mama! not sure how long it's been there, but honestly i don't think i have ever noticed it until now!

omg, i am in love with this store!!!!
check out this awesome tunic dress! sadly, they did not have it in my size at their location or any location in illinois, pretty bummed!

seriously, isn't the tank amazing! i think it would be perfect with a pair of skinny jeans and some pearls! so cute!!!

weekend in grosse pointe...

hope you all had a wonderful weekend. we headed home to grosse pointe for the weekend. if only it weren't so humid, ugh!

oh well, i started my saturday with a walk from my parent's over to morning glory on the hill. here i am passing by one of my favorite streets in GPF.

i still remember when cecil fielder lived on kenwood and his house was on fire. i can still remember seeing the flames from the back of my parent's house. this happened back in the 1990's when cecil fielder played for the detroit tigers.
last time i was in town morning glory was just about to open. so of course i had to check it out for myself! ha! ha! ha! after all, i have heard nothing but good things!

on my walk, i passed by the hill seafood and chop house to be exact, lol! in GP it's known as the hill which is also where we had our rehearsal dinner --- years ago, lol!
check out the beautiful flowers:
the hill is pretty much full of banking intuitions, real estate companies and restaurants. after all those are the only places that can seem to afford the outrageous rent! lol!

anyway, next up the dirty dog jazz cafe, which is also owned by the same owner as morning glory. don't you just love the outside!
next up morning glory...
below are a few photos from inside:

i wish i could have gotten a close up of the murals below. the photo below doesn't do justice! next time i'm in town!!!!
i decided to try their eggs florentine. OMG, yummy!!!!

before i forget, i wanted to post a photo from a few of the cakes they had on display! i love the tiffany box style cakes ....so cute!!

after breakfast, i had to stop over at the league shop for something! can't come to GP without making a stop at the league shop!
i'd post what i purchased but when i purchase something it is recorded in my profile. since i post my blog anonymously i'll have to pass! crap, goes against the topic of my blog! lol!

oh well,  on my way back to my parents i passed yet another fabulous grosse pointe dining establishment, cafe nini.
while on the topic of food, i went out to dinner with a few of my friends to rojo mexican bistro. another popular restaurant that recently opened that i had to check out! rojo is located in st. clair shores, so of course a drive along lakeshore drive is in order.

here we are almost to the grosse pointe yacht club.
finally, a photo inside rojo. honestly at this point, i forgot i was going to post about this on my blog. hence the crappy photo, sorry!
anyway, the food was amazing! i could only eat half of my order, knowing my husband would want my leftovers! sure enough when i got back to my parents, he was waiting! afterwards, he said it was the BEST mexican he's ever had! sure did!

if you ever make it to one of the four rojo locations, i highly recommend ordering the guacamole, it's fabulous!!!

oh well, if only the weather was nicer i could have taken more photos! next time...
