ironically, here in chicago i could see only the LEFT side of the rainbow. meanwhile friends in Virginia posted a photo showing only of the RIGHT side of the rainbow! pretty cool, huh!

certainly not every day you run into one of these beauties! ha! ha!

i love it, can't wait to put it in my living room when we move. there's just no room for it right now so it will remain in the garage with a majority of the rest of my belongings, lol!

here's a look inside the secretary, doesn't my lamp look fabulous! i bought the brass lamp about 10 years ago at an estate sale back home in grosse pointe. although, yesterday i had to take the to over the lamp shop to have the on/off switch replaced. the switch fell apart while i was taking it out to the garage. thankfully it's an inexpensive fix!

the owner of the lamp shop thought the lamp might be a baldwin brass? it's quite heavy and i'd be curious to find out the value of it? i think i paid $75.00 ten years ago? either way, it's not going anywhere and looks awesome on my new antique mahogany secretary!

also, before i forget i wanted to show you a few pieces of my mackenzie-childs knob collection. i have others but these are the ones from the dresser and end table in our guest bedroom.

oh well, this afternoon i am heading to the green bay packers/chicago bears football game over at solider field! joy! joy! joy! i'd rather watch the detroit lions but my husband suprised me with a ticket to the game, so i guess i have no choice! lol!

it's suppose to rain so it will be a great day to break in my new hunter boots!

rubber stamps and an upcoming giveaway...

so excited to come this afternoon and find a small USPS box waiting for me!

last week i ordered a return address rubber stamp from a wonderful vendor on etsy. etsy is such an addicting site, not sure which is more addicting etsy or pinterest? lol! 

so of course i needed ink, i'm not much of a stamper so i ventured over to paper source! i bought red ink, a stamp cleaner and a nasty a$$ stamp cleaner that smells like a skunk, ugh!

i tested it out and it looks fabulous! can't wait to address my christmas cards in 2 months, lol!

speaking of christmas, there's only 93 days left until the magical day, lol!

on that note, have you notice christmas has arrived early again this year? i was at neiman marcus over the weekend and was greeting by the following site as i ventured down the escalator, lol!

unfortunately michigan state lost to notre dame, but at least the Detroit Tigers WON the 2011 AL Central Division, yeah! as for today, i'll be cheering on the detroit lions! GO DETROIT!!

i stopped over at a local consignment shop that specializes in furniture and antiques. you see i have been searching for a few years for a secretary that reminded my of my grandparents. while i found it yesterday! the secretary is made here in american by the jasper cabinet company out of jasper, indiana. it's beautiful, below are photos from inside the store:

can't wait to go back saturday and pick it up. it's in wonderful condition and i think i paid a fair price for it! yippeee!

UPDATE: okay, my creative juices started flowing and i gathered the lamp, the mini staffordshire figurine dogs i bought in new orleans, one of my favorite oil paintings i have yet to get framed [however, now i won't have to re frame the painting], a pair of pink & green graphic design photo albums, a few old books and an empire pewter sugar and creamer set. i can see it now! of course there are other things to be added, but this is to give you an idea! so exciting, can't wait to see it all come together!

i also made a stop over to williams-sonoma and bought yet another piece of all-clad. as if my collection wasn't large enough already, lol! anyway, i bought the Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel Sauté Simmer, 4-Qt. . the pan normally retails for $245.00, on sale for only $99.00 --- SOLD!

oh well, this afternoon i think i am going to go out and buy some ribbon and make one of these wreaths for thanksgiving.

hopefully you all had a wonderful labor day weekend! we spent our time up north in northern michigan at our cottage. the weather wasn't the best, but that's okay plenty of shops and wineries to keep ourselves occupied! LOL!
